After the rush to join Threads had quietened, I noticed a couple of my friends on Instagram were using the Threads app.
The Threads app logo has a funny modern @ symbol. You’ll notice that the large swirl goes clockwise.
Threads App Features
- Built by the Instagram team.
- You can use it for sharing text updates and joining public conversations.
- Uses the same password as Instagram.
- Your posts can be up to 500 characters long and include links, photos, and videos up to minutes in length.
- A web and mobile app experience.
The interface is minimalist with a simple black-and-white theme.
Threads App Menu Options
At the bottom of the menu bar, there are several icon options. (They look a bit like this).
- 🔍 Search
- ✏ ⬜ To write a message
- 🤍 To see your activity
- 🙍To see my profile
Threads App Messages
You can view your messages easily. There are three sections here:
- Threads (Your messages)
- Replies (Your replies to messages from other people)
- Reports (You can view any threads that you have reposted)
Home Scrolling Feature
If you click on the home button in the bottom left-hand corner. It’s more like a funky A-shaped controller. You’ll see a large Threads logo at the top of the screen. Here you can view messages For You and from whom you are Following.
These messages are automatically translated based on the language they’re written in and the language setting of the person viewing it.
Follow Real People
Be careful who you follow on Threads. Look for the blue certified tick next to a person’s name.
For example, I follow Mark Zuckerberg on Instagram. So inside the Threads app, I looked for his profile. I can see his familiar face and a blue tick. He currently has 3.3 million followers.
The aim of the Threads app is to have a positive and creative space to express your ideas.
