- Follow the on-screen instructions to create a Fitbit account and connect (aka pair) your Fitbit device to your phone or tablet. Pairing makes sure your Fitbit device and phone or tablet can communicate with one another (sync their data).

Syncing is the process that transfers the data your device collects to your Fitbit app. Fitbit devices use Bluetooth technology to sync with phones and tablets.
Checklist
- Is your phone/tablet compatible? – www.fitbit.com/devices
- Fitbit app and Fitbit device are on the latest software
- Your Bluetooth settings are on
- Your Fitbit device battery isn’t low
Then try these steps:
- Force quit the Fitbit app (don’t delete it)
- Turn Bluetooth on your phone off and on again
- Open the Fitbit app
- If your device didn’t sync restart your Fitbit device
How do I restart my Fitbit device?
If you experience any of the following issues, restart your device:
- Won’t sync
- Won’t respond to button presses, taps or swipes
- Charged but doesn’t turn on
- Won’t track your steps or other stats
- Won’t show notifications
Restarting your device turns it off and on without deleting any activity data.
- Trackers: Plug in to charge your device, then press and hold the button on your tracker for 5 to 10 seconds (Press and hold 2 buttons on Inspire 2)
- Smartwatches: Press and hold the button on your device for 10 seconds (Press and hold the left and bottom right buttons on Versa and Ionic)
