You can use Google Wallet to pay using Google Pay, shop with loyalty cards, and board a flight without paper.
Rather than carry all your cards in a physical wallet, Google Wallet lets you store some of this information digitally in a central spot.
You’ll need to add a card to be able to use Google Pay.
I use Google Wallet to store my cinema loyalty card, tickets, and workshops.
Inside the app click on the plus icon to add to your wallet:
- Payment card
- Transport pass
- Loyalty
- Gift card
- Boarding passes, event tickets, and more.
You can add these items in the app, online, and using other Google products, like Gmail. Look for the Google Wallet icon and follow the instructions.
Your personal data will be kept safe and secure. You can use 2-step verification and Find My Phone. The tap-to-pay option uses encrypted payment codes to hide your real card number.
The wallet lets you skip the line or ticket booth, and receive travel updates if your departure information changes. You can set a notification to let you know when you are running low on credit and need to top up your public transport card.
You can save all of your loyalty cards in one spot, so you’ll spend less time at the checkout looking for the correct one or having to tell the cashier your phone number.
The Google Wallet app is easy to set up and use. It promises a faster, safer and easier way to pay without having to carry a big bulky wallet around.
Available on Android.
About Google Wallet
Millions of people use their phones every day to tap and ride public transport, save event tickets and boarding passes and pay at stores. Over the last few years, we have also seen a need for a safe and simple way to save and access new digital items such as car keys, digital IDs, and vaccine records. Google Wallet will be available in Australia on Android and Wear OS and will standardise the way you save and access essential items such as payment and vaccine cards, transit and event tickets, boarding and loyalty passes. https://wallet.google/
