Head back in time to 1986, where you’ll play as Meredith Weiss, who returns to her quiet lake-side hometown. She fills in for her dad who works in mail delivery while he goes on holiday.
It’s a change of pace for the software developer from the big city. You’ll need to deliver regular post and parcels by driving to the right home or business.
If you get stuck, there’s a map of the area and a checklist of addresses. It is sometimes difficult to look at the snapshot map in the corner while trying to navigate the road in front. Fortunately, you can reset the mail van and crashing doesn’t result in any punishment.
Pros
- Easy to play.
- There is no violence.
- You can recover from a crash or collision by resetting the delivery van.
- The character spends two weeks in the lake-side town which was about the right amount of time.
Cons
- The country soundtrack isn’t my thing. It gets pretty repetitive. I wish I could have listened to my Spotify songs or turned this off.
- The after-work activities are limited – you can stay home and watch TV or read a book, help your neighbours, or hang out with friends.
- The dialogue is sometimes lame.
- There’s no point in wandering off the beaten track – just stick to the postal delivery list.
Note: You’ll have to get used to driving on the wrong side of the road, as it is set in America. It’s easy to remember that the road signs are the side you want to be on.

Game Tips
There’s not much point in driving off the beaten track to explore the countryside. It’s best to just stick to your delivery and do a good and honest job.
You can have a romantic relationship with Angie at the video store or the male lumberjack.
The boundaries in relationships are tested. Sometimes friendships are pushed too far. I tried to say no to babysitting. But when my updates weren’t saved, I ended up saying yes – and got nothing back in return.
You can determine your own story, as there are no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answers or endings, simply what you want to happen.
The ending changes depending on what choices you have selected throughout the game. The ending was unexpectedly sweet.
It took me approximately 9 hours to complete the game. The last hour was getting frustrating, and I just wanted to finish it as soon as I could.
Lake is a great cosy game with an easy level of challenges for times when you just want to chill.
